John Wilson's profile

Data Centres are maturing, developing & connected

It is quite well known that the data centre industry can be seen as a bit of a drab affair that is all very logical and rarely 'fun' or witty.

The brief of this advertising plan to appear in several magazines was to sit along side an article called '
Colocation Data Centres, a maturing industry?'.

The idea behind these advertisments was to characterize the target market in the rack designs rather than to simply state that MigSolv sell data centre space thus building a recognistion of the service being for them but also adding a sense of play to the industry that many see as dull.

This character is the representation of maturity and someone who has complete sophistication in his way of thinknig. With a monocle , a bowler hat, business bag and umbrella this rack knows what it means to use a data centre outside of London and it ticks all the right boxes for business.
The character below is the representation of a stereotypical developer and someone who understands that code doesn't need to be storedin the most expensive places but actually in the place that 'works best for their needs' which is something that developers do a regular basis, choosing the correct code for their problem .

Wearing a headset, gaming stickers , trainers, a humourus tshirt and a laptop with code on it this rack knows that selecting a data centre outside of capital cities makes more sense and its the right solution to the problem.
The background of the image is a cartoon version of London to subliminally represent it being childish to believe your IT equipment must be stored in a  London data centre rather than a regional data centre as it is cheaper and there is no, or very little latency due to how fast data travels down fibre optic cables and cheaper with leess threats to the data.

A subtle message of a cartoon city for those who refuses to listen to the advantages of putting servers elsewhere.
